I saw a purple cat.
It possessed the sidewalk
On which it sat
Like a shadow slowly come to life,
Its green tentative wicked eyes
Full of uncompromising tinder,
As if the small patch of pavement
On which it sat
Were a desert sand burning with lust,
And the cat itself a riddle
Of what it was and what it was not.
